Hymn to Water

I am writing to invite you to my newest installation, which will consist of my newest photographs being projected. Sera Smolen, a local musician, will accompany my photography on the cello, along with the sounds of water. The entire installation will bring together the natural sounds, photography, and music into a great hymn to the blessings of water. I will also have on display giclee photographs from my new series, Water in Four Seasons. All of the photography was taken in the Ithaca area. This will be the debut.

December 11th, 2009

5:00 - 8:00 PM

Installation showing at 6:30 PM.

Helena Cooper Art Studio, 1002 N. Cayuga Street, Ithaca, NY

My ArteMagnetica and art cards will be inside for those who would like to purchase music or make contributions towards my Israel trip through art purchases. As most of you know, I have been to Israel twice with Jalaja Bonheim, the founder and director of the Institute for Circlework (ICW). Its mission is to make the transformative power of Circlework available to the world, especially to those working in service of global peace and healing. Currently, the ICW is planning a trip to Jerusalem and the West Bank in January 2010, where it will hold circles for the women in these conflict areas.

A portion of the profits from my artwork sold on December 11th will be donated to the Institute for Circlework. You can read more about their mission at their web site, http://www.instituteforcirclework.org. If you would like to donate directly to the Institute for Circlework, you may do so through their donation page.
Sera Smolen will also have CDs available of her inspiring music with her husband Tom.

My last installation at Rasa Spa, which contained a different set of projected images, was accompanied by recorded music and the sounds of water. Its success has inspired me to continue installations because I believe they help bring the viewer closer to my vision of nature.
If you haven’t seen my YouTube, done collaboratively with Mara Alper and Hank Roberts, please look at it here.
