Hymn to Water: A Multimedia Event

Hello all,

The multimedia installation debut, Hymn to Water, will take place in my studio on Friday, 11 December 2009, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. The first twelve-minute multimedia segment will take place at 5:30 PM.

I have been very involved with photographing how light interacts with water, creating abstract pieces that appear more like paintings than photographs. I spend time walking in different gorges, and along our creeks, and lakes. I am very grateful for living in Ithaca where we are surrounded by so much beauty. Hymn to Water will be a fantastic event, and it couldn’t come at a better time. As many of you know, natural gas fracking presents a real threat to the beauty of the region and the viability of our water.

This Friday, 11 December, Sera Smolen will be collaborating with me, playing the cello while my newest abstract water photography is projected. Some of my newest giclees will be displayed on the walls. Again, the first twelve-minute multimedia segment will take place at 5:30 PM. There will be four or five segments in total spread throughout the evening. This is my first of many multimedia installations I would like to collaborate on with area musicians and poets.

Wine and refreshments will be served in my home. Boxed cards of my new photography will be available. In addition, I will have ArteMagnetica©, photography prints, and giclees from my previous series, Invocation to the Sun. The ArteMagnetica© makes great gifts and looks wonderful on  file cabinets, refrigerators, and other magnetic surfaces. The remainder of my watercolors and mixed media from the Thanksgiving Sale will be available at good prices. I will be having a raffle, with first, second, and third prizes awarded to attendees. Don’t miss this great opportunity to win fantastic prizes!

I am also raising funds to support Jalaja Bonheim’s next series of circles in Israel and Palestine this January. She has been working with Palestinian, Jewish, and Arab women in Israel. You can read more about Jalaja’s circles here. This will be my third time going to Israel, where I am very involved with her important work. 20% of all sales will go to the Institute for Circlework.

Please share this invitation to others you think might be interested!
